With it's spectacular beaches , coconut palms and only 9 hours flying time , it has to be up there amongst the favourited. Wether it be Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica or Saint Lucia to name just a few, each surrounded by glistening turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. The tune of "No worries, be happy" springs immediately to mind. Everyone is so laid back in the Caribbean and after a few rum punches sat at the edge of your pool in your sunken sun lounger, you will be too.
The sun shines in the Caribbean all year round and the temperatures remain pretty constant. However, do avoid August and September if you can or you may find yourself caught up in a hurricane (or poorer weather).
Sandals offer amazing Honeymoon locations. They offer all of the above mentioned, plus The Bahamas and Grenada. They seem to know exactly what honeymooners want. They have sumptuous suites with private plunge pools , swim up suites and their infamous Love Nest Dream Suites to name a few. They have spa's and fitness centres ..but hey, take it easy, you are after all on your honeymoon.
The English Guild have trained their Butlers . You can have 24 room service if you wish . They do offer delicious gourmet dining options, sometimes having up to 21 different restaurants to choose from. The land and water sports are included too and unlimited. If you have ever wanted to learn to scuba dive, you can do that to. If golf is your 'ting' you can do that to.
The Maldives is one of the all time dream Honeymoon destinations. Paradise is how I would describe it.
If you want seclusion, intimacy , romance and pure unadulterated luxury, this is where you should go. It's where you can go and be away from it all. They have a saying in the Maldives..No shoes, no news.
The Islands vary in size. Some can be circled in ten minutes but some can take you at least 20 to walk around...
These beautiful islands each have their own house reef with both hard coral and soft vibrant corals too. Plus the full cast from 'Finding Nemo' .....No need to learn to dive here, snorkelling will show you all you really need to see. A great place to learn to snorkel too. To name a few you will see Manta rays , turtles , octopus and around 700 species of fish.
There are over a thousand islands but only 200 are inhabited. We have been lucky enough to visit quite a few . We know the best ones and can help you choose the perfect one for you.
International flights arrive into Male and you usually take the Sea Plane or have a Speedboat transfer. If you have the choice, Please take the Sea Plane. The view from above is totally amazing and breath taking. The journey in itself is an experience. You need that window seat and a good camera! You just take off and land on the sunny white beach, met by a cocktail.....
The accommodation can vary from Island to Island . Usually you can choose between Beach and Water Villas .
Twin centre honeymoons are becoming increasing popular. Possible options would be combining. Sri Lanka with The Maldives. This is popular with those looking to get married. You can't get married in the Maldives, but you can in Sri Lanka. Kerala is a beautiful part of Southern India with stunning beaches . Combine a week there and a week in the Maldives and have a perfect combination. Dubai and
The Maldives work well together as a twin centre too.
Mauritius is a very popular wedding and Honeymoon destination. As well as its stunning beaches and scenery, there is a lot to see if you venture around the Island. You will find Sugar Cane fields, waterfalls and jungle too... Oh and monkeys!
Le Touessruk is a great romantic resort an is also very chic. It is set in Trou d'tau Douce Bay.
If you are into your sports and windsurfing is your passion then head for the North - Calodyne and Anse Le Raie . If you just want pure beach and lots of cocktails, stick to the East Coast. Belle Mare and Trou d'eau Douce.
The cuisine in Mauritius has a very French/ creole mix, quite interesting actually!
Mauritius has all year round sunshine. In December it is between 20-30 degrees. May -Nov mid 20's.
Venice and can taken at anytime as a city break. If you are thinking 'Italy and Romance ' there is certainly something magical about the Amalfi Coast. Visit Positano..The home of Romance!
Picture yourself there now, driving around those windy cliff top roads . Roof down , shades on and away you go, feeling like Audrey Hepburn ..and that's just the men!
The scenery is breathtakingly romantic . You will see small Boutique hotels all away along the coast. My recommendation would be to stay at the Hotel Santa Caterina. It is a 5* plus hotel perched high on a cliff top amidst the scented lemon and orange groves. Very chic and truly a luxurious hideaway with uninterrupted stunning views across the Bay.
Sardinia , Capri and Ischia all too ooze romance and have beautiful white sandy beaches. Very stylish and well worth a trip.
Again Italy can be a two centre holiday. Combining Rome with Positano would be an option and Despite my previous comment about Venice, you cannot deny its romance. Checkout the Ca Maria Adela, it is supposed to be the most romantic hotel,in Europe. Very inviting.
My quirky option for those of you who have been to the Caribbean, been lucky enough to holiday in the Maldives and been to Italy many times before...
Pemba Island (The Green Island)
It is situated off of the East Coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean and probably as far away from civilisation as you might ever find yourself.
